Supermarket shopping is a major cost centre and granular tracking / sorting of purchases would help identify savings opportunities (=miniature "spend overview").

Use OCR to scan receipts in, sort spend into e.g. veges, dairy, frozen, meat, alcohol, etc

We would love to get to this level of detail; however, OCR scanning of receipts, which I've been testing myself, is subpar, as the receipts typically don't have enough information to identify enough products to make it worth using. Love the idea though.

Carl Thompson yeah that was my impression too. I figured there would be some teaching it what the things on your docket mean, but each item does have a unique name you can work out. If you always go to one supermarket (or it recognizes and collates per-supermarket across users) after initial setup it should theoretically work ok.
